AUSJ, with support from Zonta International, will host its first annual PSA contest for film school students in Los Angeles and Orange County. The theme for the first year's contest will be "I Stop Traffic", and will be focused on raising public awareness of and/or combating human trafficking.

Students from local film schools will compete for the chance to write, produce, direct and edit a Public Service Announcement, PSA (30–90 seconds) that works to raise awareness about, or supports the fight against human trafficking. This competition will also provide an opportunity for female filmmakers to further their professional development, as each team must be comprised of at least 50% female students.

Students/teams will submit entries consisting of any combination of treatments, storyboards and/or scripts to AUSJ, for initial review. The submitted proposals will be reviewed by the AUSJ selection committee and three projects, from all submissions, will be selected to be produced for the competition. AUSJ will contribute funding for the production of each PSA with teams receiving mentorship from working professionals in the Hollywood film and television industry.

Judging of the completed PSAs will be administered through a panel of the TV and film industry professionals selected by AUSJ. Prizes for first, second, and third place as well as online "Audience Favorite", will be awarded to teams producing the winning PSAs. Contest winners will be announced on Jan. 11, 2012 (National Human Trafficking Awareness Day) at the 2nd annual AUSJ Agent of Change awards.

This contest has been made possible, in part, through funds provided by Zonta International. Zonta seeks to advance the status of women worldwide by improving the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local levels through service and advocacy.
